TMC CDxN – COLLABORATIVE DIAGNOSTIC NETWORKS

Collaborative Diagnostic Networks (CDxN) is a tailor-made concept to develop efficient and seamlessly working radiology networks. It incorporates professional consulting, managed services and TMC’s proprietary technology platform OPTEMIS RIS.

Efficiency and Quality Increase

  • Subspecialisation

For radiologists it gets more and more difficult to cover all areas of radiology. With CDxN radiologists can subspecialise in the network as they only get assigned cases from their specific focus area (e.g. Neuro, Body or MSK). Subspecialisation leads to high quality reporting, which is then available in the whole network, even for smaller hospitals or practices. As radiologists get more knowledgeable in their focus area they report much more efficiently.

  • Second reading

OPTEMIS RIS includes a second reading module which allows systematic quality control. A predefined percentage of reports is assigned to a second, typically more experienced radiologists for control, before the final report is delivered (prospective peer-review). The second reader corrects, when necessary, the primary report and afterwards selects the discrepancy level. The first reporter can easily see the changes to his report highlighted in yellow and accept or reject the corrections in the report. A common culture of constant learning from your peers is established.

  • EFFICIENT REPORTING ENVIRONMENT

OPTEMIS RIS is a reporting platform developed by radiologists for radiologists, which is optimized for efficient workflows. It features integrated voice recognition software and desktop synchronization with PACS.

  • STRUCTURED REPORTING

Through the smart use of chechboxes, input fields or macros a report with structured and standardized format can be generated very quickly. This allows efficient reporting, improved comparability and easy orientation for the referring clinician. In addition a structured pool of reporting data becomes available.

Capacity Management

  • Flexibility of Network

Sick or vacation leave of radiologists and peaks in case volumes can be compensated by using network capacity. If the network capacities are not sufficient, external reporting capacity of your choice can support.

  • Case Assignment

The case assignment functionality of OPTEMIS RIS allows seamless exchange of cases in the network. Together with the planning tool cases are assigned to radiologists who are available to report and have the right subspecialisation. TMC’s unique Rad Unit system contains measures related to the time needed to report a specific case type based on extensive statistics. It allows fair reimbursement of network participants depending on the complexity of each case.

  • CentraliSation of On-Call Radiology

On-Call reporting during nights and weekends can be provided from one clinic or practice for the whole network or passed on to external reporting capacities. This increases the quality of life of radiologists in the network and helps your institution to comply with the EU working time directive (2003/88/EG).

Training

  • Supervised Reporting

OPTEMIS RIS professionalises the training of residents/registrars in radiology. The integrated supervised reporting forwards all reports of residents/registrars to the consultant radiologists for control. The consultant introduces necessary changes and sets the discrepancy level. The resident/registrar is then provided with a very visual comparison with changes highlighted in yellow and thereby can learn with every report. The development of discrepancy levels can be controlled at any time and allows the assessment of learning progress.

OPTEMIS RIS is the technological core of the collaborative diagnostic network solution CDxN. For more than 10 years TMC has been operating the now largest radiology network in Europe, connecting 160 radiologists with 100 clinics. The management of the complexity was possible through development of this proprietary software.
