The University Hospital of Linköping in Sweden sends On-Call images to Sydney.

Jan 26th, 2012

In mid-October 2011 Linköping University Hospital in Sweden started using the TMC On-Call service from Sydney weekdays between 22.00 – 07.00.

Dr Bengt Norén, Assistant Head of Department:
- We are happy with the collaboration so far and the workflow is well established. Telemedicine Clinic has been responsive and adapted in a good way to our local procedures. The communication between Sydney and our local nurses and referring physicians (for discussion of the choice of modality, examination findings, etc.) has worked well.

He also states that the change of On-Call organization empower them to make better use of their available resources during the day and this also improves the work environment. The local young radiologists appreciate being able to sleep at night.

Telemedicine Clinic (TMC) and Linköping University Hospital are also collaborating on CT Colonography (CT colon). Work began during last fall.

Dr. Bengt Norén:
- The TMC CT Colonography service has been a relief for our Gastroenterology Section. Linköping University Hospital is currently conducting approximately 35-40 CT Colon/week and from TMC we can get help with up to 25 exams per week – the rest we will take care of ourselves in order to maintain competence.
