Telemedicine Clinic has successfully launched its TMC On-Call Teleradiology service in the UK in close partnership with Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
This service utilizes the key benefits of highly experienced and GMC registered consultant radiologists, located in Australia, who are thus able to report during their daytime due to the complimentary time zone differences between the UK and Australia. Furthermore, the service is fully approved and compliant with Connecting for Health and no patient identifying data leaves the UK’s boundaries.
Telemedicine Clinic, (TMC), provides the service, TMC On-Call, seven days a week, with a team of experienced radiologists working throughout the day on night time cases in a secure professional reporting environment based in central Sydney. There is no longer any need for tired NHS radiologists to report from home in the middle of the night.
Thanks to new technology, image transfer is fast and the average report turn around time is within 30 minutes. At the TMC centre in Sydney there is a team of full time radiologists who facilitate continuous communication with UK hospitals throughout the night.
The TMC solution is fully NHS CfH approved; all cases are fully anonymised, so no patient identifying data leaves the UK.
Dr Paul Dubbins, Associate Medical Director UK, Telemedicine Clinic:
– We have developed sophisticated solutions to completely anonymise all patient data before it is sent to Sydney. We believe that it is a much safer and professional solution to employ wide-awake radiologists working during the day rather than waking one, already tired from a full days work, in the middle of the night.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is very pleased with the service:
Dr Charles Wetton, Clinical Director of Radiology, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust:
– We are happy to be using Telemedicine Clinic for some of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trusts online reporting. I have always thought that a link with the southern hemisphere is sensible for reporting emergency scans in our night time by radiologists in Australia during their daytime.
All TMC On-Call radiologists are UK experienced GMC registered Consultant radiologists.
Chris Piccaver, Head of Business Development, Telemedicine Clinic:
– Day time reporting from Sydney is an intelligent, inherently safer and ultimately more efficient method of reporting UK On-Call cases. TMC is delighted to be able to offer this service to more NHS hospitals.
