Milestones
TMC was founded to cater to the increasing demand for radiology services and sub-specialist expertise. The main centre was set up in Barcelona (Spain), one of the leading healthcare regions in Europe.
| TMC began to provide reporting services to public service hospitals in Sweden. Just one and a half years after its take-off, the company along with Sjunet (the Swedish healthcare network) won the European E-Health Award from the EU Commission based on their mature application and vast impact within the healthcare industry.
| In June, TMC won its first public procurement to provide reporting services to Västra Götaland hospital in Sweden. The company also successfully launched its first pilot case in Pathology with Hospital del Mar (Spain) and the University of Norrland (Sweden). Towards the end of 2004, TMC began collaborations with the UK Department of Health to provide reporting services to certain NHS Trust hospitals.
| A large-scale production platform for reporting services was developed to cater to the growing volume of cases received. During this year, TMC partnered with its first client in Spain, the Santa Tecla Hospital Network.
To add flavour to positive growth, TMC once again won an award - the Innovative Company Award, presented by the City Council of Barcelona, the Spanish government and other public institutions.
| TMC became the first provider of radiology services in Europe to be ISO 9001 certified. The company’s client base grew throughout Scandinavia, UK and Spain, which inevitably led to a substantial increase in the number of employees. To accommodate this fast growth, TMC moved to its current location at the Torre Mapfre, a sophisticated facility standing next to the Biomedical Research Centre of Barcelona.
| This was another exciting year of new facilities and new service areas. TMC set up a centre in Sydney (Australia) that would provide On-Call reporting services i.e. nighttime and emergency coverage to European hospitals. In June, radiologists from the Sydney centre began to read nighttime and emergency cases for Kristianstad Hospital in Sweden.
Apart from On-Call, TMC also launched its Mammography services.
| TMC launched its PET-CT services. The UK National Health Service (NHS) granted TMC via Alliance Medical a large contract for providing a PET-CT reporting solution for hospitals in North England. After signing the first PET-CT contracts with UK NHS hospitals, TMC began implementation procedures to provide PET-CT services to a network of 10 NHS hospitals.
TMC also began providing Mammography services to Karlstad Hospital in Sweden.
In June, TMC was nominated as a candidate for the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer award for the class of 2009.
Today, TMC has over 70 radiologists providing many European hospitals with sub-specialist reporting, on-call, mammography, PET-CT as well as training. We now have a multinational team of 130 employees working with us. TMC estimates that it will be processing more than 250,000 cases this year.
